A little more than six months after Tyler Robinson was accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, the suspect’s legal team made a new claim that the bullet had hit the famed Republican pundit.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Robinson’s attorneys are now arguing that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) was “unable to identify the bullet recovered at autopsy to the rifle allegedly tied” to the suspect.
“Although the State has not indicated an intent to produce this report at the preliminary hearing, the defense may very well decide to offer the testimony of the ATF firearm analyst as exculpatory evidence,” the court documents state.
Robinson’s legal team further noted that multiple categories of forensic evidence remain incomplete. The attorneys further claimed that prosecutors have already provided more than 20,000 files, including about 61,500 pages, 31 hours of audio, and over 700 hours of video across more than 5,000 clips.
They noted it will take at least 60 days for them to do a first pass of the files.
“The defense team has devoted, and will continue to devote, significant resources, to processing discovery, including identifying materials not yet received to inform readiness for the preliminary hearing,” the filing states. “However, the defense team is realistic, and the comprehensive review required to determine what is missing will take hundreds of hours.”
Robinson is due back in court on April 17. Currently, his legal team is seeking to televise the hearing. “Keeping court proceedings as public as possible helps to quell and contradict the tide of misinformation.”
Charlie’s widow, Erika, has long supported a televised trial. She previously stated, “We deserve to have cameras in there.”
The Suspect Allegedly Confessed to Murdering Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University
Robinson allegedly confessed to his father that he had fatally shot Kirk on September 10.
The Turning Point USA founder had been at Utah Valley University to debate with students when he was shot in the neck. Law enforcement, including the FBI, spent more than 24 hours tracking down the shooter.
After his father spoke ot a youth pastor, who also works with the U.S. Marshals, Robinson surrendered to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Prosecutors have stated that Robinson had driven three hours from his residence to kill Kirk using a gun that his grandfather gave him.
