The purses, valued at approximately $10,000 each, were stolen when the suspects smashed through the front window of a store located at Madison and 64th Street in Manhattan around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Reportedly, the bandits made out with $30k worth of goods.
The men escaped on foot, and at this time, there have been no immediate descriptions or arrests. The police are in the process of retrieving surveillance footage from the store.

This morning, the ritzy Chanel store ruined by sledgehammers was boarded up. However, this sort of thing is a common sight for denizens of the Big Apple.
New Yorkers React to Sledgehammer-Wielding Men Smashing Chanel Store Window
“That’s pretty crazy and that’s scary, but honestly, it’s New York, so I’ve seen it all,” a long-time New Yorker told local outlet ABC 7. “It really doesn’t phase me sadly but it does kind of creep you out a little bit at least.”
Another New Yorker who lives close to the Chanel store, Max Morris, agrees with the sad assessment.
“It’s obviously not a good thing to see if you live in the area, but what do you expect? This is New York City,” Morris told The New York Post.
Morris then threw a bit of shade toward NYC’s current mayor, Eric Adams.
“Hopefully we can have someone who does something about this,” the beleaguered New Yorker added.
“I’m not surprised. That’s why we really need a good mayor to come in and someone to clean this up; this is a terrible situation,” Morris told the outlet.
Mayor Adams was recently indicted on federal corruption charges. A recent Marist poll revealed that a significant majority of New Yorkers—69% of those surveyed—believe Mayor Adams should resign. Meanwhile, 30% think he should complete his term. Furthermore, if he chooses not to resign, nearly two-thirds of respondents want Governor Kathy Hochul to take action to remove him.
Over 80% of New York City residents believe that Adams should not seek re-election. His approval rating languishes at a mere 26%.
Meanwhile, according to police, no arrests have been made, and no injuries have been reported. The investigation is still ongoing.
