According to NBC News, the crash occurred “off the runway” and was first reported at 2:39 p.m. local time. Scottsdale Fire Capt. Dave Folio stated that upon their arrival, first responders discovered one person dead.
Two of the four people injured in the plane crash were taken to nearby medical facilities in critical condition. Another injured person experienced a delay in their treatment. Their condition was not revealed.
The fourth person injured in the crash refused treatment at the scene.
At a news conference, airport spokesperson Kelli Kuester shared that one of the arriving plane’s two sets of main landing gear failed upon landing, “resulting in the accident.”
Kuester pointed out that the arriving aircraft, identified as a Learjet 35A, was coming from Austin. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the aircraft veered off the runway after landing. It then crashed into a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet.
Worrick Robinson IV, a Nashville, Tennessee-based lawyer for Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil, confirmed that the arriving plane belonged to the rock music legend. Robinson further confirmed that Neil was not on board the plane when the crash occurred.
“He is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today,” Robinson further stated, referring to Neil.
Jet Pros, a Scottsdale-based firm that charters private jets, stated that the aircraft that was struck belongs to the company. No one on board the Gulfstream was reportedly injured in the crash.
The company also confirmed that “external damages were sustained” to the aircraft.
