Title:

Clown

What It's About:

A family man accidentally forgets to hire a clown for his son's birthday party. Luckily, the house he's been working on had a clown suit. In the basement. In a locked chest. He soon realizes that the suit isn't coming off and he's experiencing a hunger like he's never felt before.

Why You Need To Watch It:

This movie is pure B-horror movie gold. You know how people say that the only ones safe in a horror movie are kids and dogs? That's certainly not true for this flick! Absolutely no one is off limits from this clown-themed villain and the twist at the end is one for the ages, plus, the creepy clown in question is pretty darn terrifying.

Title:

The 100

What It's About:

Almost 100 years after Earth was destroyed by a nuclear apocalypse, the remaining humans, living on a space station, have discovered that their life support systems are failing. Out of desperation, they send 100 juvenile delinquents to Earth to see if it is inhabitable once again. While on the surface of Earth for the first time in three generations, these teens find that they are not alone.

Why You Need To Watch It:

This series truly has everything you loved about Lost: Compelling characters, moral hand-wringing, and a band of people simply trying to survive the worst possible circumstances. Plus, there are plenty of good looking people looking strategically dirty just like along with the slow realization that they aren't the only ones out there. Yet the visual effects are what truly make the difference with this show, it was even nominated for a primetime Emmy for them.

Title:

Wentworth

What It's About:

Bea Smith was arrested for the attempted murder of her husband, separated from her daughter, and sent to prison for a crime she did not commit. Now she has to get used to her new life behind bars and find her place in the hierarchy at Wentworth prison.

Why You Need To Watch It:

This show takes a more serious look at the lives of women behind bars, but the same themes apply to Wentworth as they do to Orange Is The New Black. Where it differs is the fact that Bea Smith is totally innocent, while Piper Chapman did the crime and now she's doing the time. The politics of prison are always interesting, especially when you look at women's prisons. This drama, set in Australia, is definitely worth a watch.

Lion

What It's About:

Saroo, a boy from India, was only 5-years-old when he was separated from his family and wound up thousands of miles away in West Benegal. Years later after being adopted by an Australian couple, he embarks on a journey to find his mother and beloved older brother.

Why You Need To Watch It:

This true story is one for the ages. It's heartwarming, heart-pounding, and everything in between. This movie was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture. Dev Patel stars as the adult Saroo, but it's his childhood counterpart, played by Sunny Pawar, who absolutely steals the show and hearts whenever he appears on-screen.

Love Louis C.K? You’ll Be Super Into Robert Kelly

Title:

Robert Kelly Live At The Village Underground

What It's About:

Robert Kelly is not aging gracefully and he's not afraid to talk about it. He's thrilled to be middle-aged, has some unconventional ideas about why men should be able to wear dresses, and he's unashamed to admit that he once farted in a baby's face.

Why You Need To Watch It:

Robert Kelly is the sort of comedian who's more hilarious than foul mouthed, and he's certainly foul-mouthed. His list of things that make him cry will make you laugh so hard, it'll bring tears to your eyes. He's not afraid to tell it how it is, including the fact that fat people are just better people than fit people. He's kinda got a point...

Title:

Ozark

What It's About:

After running afoul of the drug boss he'd been laundering money for, Marty Byrd has to move his family to the Missouri Ozarks in order to recoup the money his boss lost. Along the way, he has to deal with crazy locals, murderous rivals, and, of course, his own family.

Why You Need To Watch It:

If you thought Jason Bateman was only a comedic actor, you'd be dead wrong. Bateman gives an amazing performance and is the highlight of the series. It's not like the idea of a family man getting into the gritty world of drug dealers and kingpins is something new, but Ozark manages to bring a breath of fresh air to the theme.

Chewing Gum

What It's About:

Tracey is tired of being a good girl and has decided that the one thing she really needs is a young man to get busy with. The only trouble is her awkward manner, strict religious mother and screwball friends tend to get in her way.

Why You Need To Watch It:

Tracey's inelegant attempts to find and catch a mate are truly hilarious to watch. Her fearless attitude is inspiring, but the true fun comes from watching Tracey bumble from one romantic encounter to the next. The truly stand out moment from the first season? When she tries to channel Beyoncé and pulls it off like only Tracey can.

Title:

Master Of None

What It's About:

A young actor lives out his twenties in New York City while trying to find work and finally growing up. His friends help (hinder?) him along the way, as well as the other wacky characters who pop up every now and again.

Why You Need To Watch It:

If you loved Aziz Ansari as Tom Haverford in Parks and Recs, you'll adore him in his own series. Not only is it laugh out loud funny, but it's also chock full of heartfelt moments. Ansari's real life parents even have a recurring role in the series, playing his TV parents of course!

If 'Narcos' Was Your Jam, Then You’ll Love This Colombian Crime Thriller
If 'Narcos' Was Your Jam, Then You’ll Love This Colombian Crime Thriller

Title:

Surviving Escobar: Alias JJ

What It's About:

JJ was one of the top killers for Pablo Escobar's cartel. Now that Pablo's dead, JJ has turned himself in, hoping for leniency. When things don't go exactly as planned, he has to figure out a way to keep himself, and his family, alive. Becoming Colombia's top killer again is also on his to-do list.

Why You Need To Watch It:

Though Netflix's Narcos certainly kept a lot of details true to life, John Jairo Velásquez, also known as JJ or "Popeye," was a member of Escobar's inner circle who was left out. Though the series is good enough to be a stand alone story, it's so much better once you've finished Narcos. Like Escobar, JJ is a man whose loyalties are only outweighed by his suspicious nature. His ruthless climb to the top of the criminal world is something both terrifying and poetic to watch.

Title:

What Happened To Monday

What It's About:

After overpopulation created a worldwide crisis, a one-child policy was instituted. If twins or other multiples are born, then all but the oldest are placed in cryosleep. When a set of identical septuplets were born, their grandfather hid them away, named each of them after a day of the week, created a new identity for them to share, and instructed them to only leave the house on their day of the week. When one sister goes missing, the rest of them use everything at their disposal to find her and bring her home.

Why You Need To Watch It:

Noomi Rapace (of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo fame) plays the part of the missing Monday and the rest of her six sisters, which is very reminiscent of Tatiana Maslany's performance in Black Orphan. Rapace portrayal of each sister is brilliant, as she gives them their own personal tics and gestures. This is a fun, sci-fi romp whose special effects can't be beaten. The twist ending is one that will keep you guessing all the way to the nail-biting conclusion.

If You’re A Fan Of Old School 'Twilight Zone,' You’ll Love 'Black Mirror'
If You’re A Fan Of Old School 'Twilight Zone,' You’ll Love 'Black Mirror'

Title:

Black Mirror

What It's About:

This series of unconnected, stand alone episodes take a look at alternative universes/possible futures in which the technology we use comes with giant, unforeseen consequences. It's science fiction with a distinct moral twist.

Why You Need To Watch It:

Each episode is like its very own movie, set in a universe that looks a lot like our own, with people who look and behave just like us, but with something slightly off. It takes a look at the technological trends of today and takes them to their ultimate end. The series gives the audience an unflinching take on the influence of technology and how it affects the everyday aspects of life, which not only makes for great TV, but it leaves you thinking long after the show is over.

'Sharknado' Is Great, But Have You Checked Out This Flick About Zombie Beavers?
'Sharknado' Is Great, But Have You Checked Out This Flick About Zombie Beavers?

Title:

Zombeavers

What It's About:

A group of teens heads out to the woods for a weekend of chilling in a cabin and swimming in the lake. Little did they know that a group of zombified beavers had other plans for the teens. Now, these zombeavers are picking the teens off, one by one. Who will survive?

Why You Need To Watch It:

B-horror movies that know they're B-horror movies are the greatest creation since sliced bread. The movie monster is acceptably ridiculous, the actors are justifiably awful, and the gore factor is off the charts, while still being just unrealistic enough to keep this movie from slipping into disgusting territory.

If You’re A Fan Of Lady Comics, Here’s A Stand Out Stand Up Act

Title:

Cristela Alonzo: Lower Classy

What It's About:

Funny lady Cristela Alonzo takes on President Donald Trump, food allergies, and autocorrect in her Netflix stand-up special and she does it all with her own brand of in-your-face humor. Just don't get her started on her beef with a certain Bloomingdale's cashier.

Why You Need To Watch It:

Her ABC sitcom Cristela may have been canceled in 2015, but that doesn't mean that Cristela has lost any of her funny. If Amy Schumer's crass, brass, and lacking in class style of humor appeals to you, then Cristela definitely needs to be on your radar. Her observational humor ranges across all topics, from working out, her hate for expensive sports bras, and why those dog commercials ruined Sarah Mclachlan for her.

Can’t Get Enough Exorcisms In Your Life?

Title:

The Rite

What It's About:

A Catholic priest in training travels to Rome to finish his studies. Once there, he meets another priest who regularly performs exorcisms. Being a skeptic, the student-in-training doubts his new mentor, but once he sees one up close and personal, he can't help but rethink his position.

Why You Need To Watch It:

With Anthony Hopkins as one of its main stars, there's no way this movie could disappoint. Though the main character's doubts are a major theme throughout, this film doesn't skimp on the scares. You'd think that possession movies would become less scary as the years go on, but you'd be wrong. It's a nail-biter the whole way through.

Love 'Rick And Morty?' Then 'Bojack Horseman' Is Just The Horse You’re looking For
Love 'Rick And Morty?' Then 'Bojack Horseman' Is Just The Horse You’re looking For

Title:

Bojack Horseman

What It's About:

A washed up '90s sitcom actor, Bojack Horseman, is slowly decaying in his L.A. mansion. The only thing bigger than his ego is his self-hatred. While trying to make a comeback, Bojack manages to involve himself in all sorts of scandal and mishaps, with the help of his pals, of course.

Why You Need To Watch It:

In a world where horses star on hit sitcoms, birds are paparazzi, and a Navy Seal is literally a seal, the puns and gags never stop flowing. The only thing more ridiculous and funny than the action taking place in the background is what's happening in the spotlight. While the show is truly hilarious, it's heartfelt moments are both touching and relatable, even when they come straight from the horse's mouth.
