It's never easy to find out that your husband is cheating on you, but at least these two ladies had some support while on a journey to discover the truth about their respective husbands' illicit activities. A Twitter user by the name of BJ Colange saw the two, middle-aged women sitting at a bar in the airport and, when she heard what they were talking about, she couldn't help but live-tweet the whole thing. Thank goodness she did, otherwise we would have missed out on some drama that's worthy of its own TV show. Now it's like we were all there, eavesdropping together. There is some extreme language in these tweets, just a warning.
Not only were these two, nice ladies' husbands having an affair, all evidence points to their darling hubbies having an affair with each other. That's the reason the guys always needed to head to Chicago together for "business trips." Honestly, though, what's even more fascinating than their plans to "ambush" their cheating partners is the unlikely bond the two seem to have developed.
It's a good thing, too, that the ladies' connection was so strong. One, in particular, seemed incredibly nervous. She had what BJ described as an "extreme couponer's amount of gum." Her reason for all that gum? "You can't yell at someone with bad breath. My dad taught me that." Even though there was definitely going to be some yelling, neither woman was angry that their husbands were gay, both were more disappointed that their husbands felt the need to lie.
In between comforting and getting to know each other, the ladies decided that, since they were in a bar anyway, they'd get some liquid courage into their systems to ease the upcoming confrontation. Even though one of the ladies didn't seem like she'd done anything like it before, she still took her shot like a champ.
They'd seen signs before that there was maybe something suspicious about their respective husbands, but they just hadn't noticed them. The gum lady mentioned that her daughter's boyfriend had come to her with his suspicions about her husband's sexuality, but she'd just thought he was trying to stir the pot. Guess she was wrong about that, huh?
The discussion then turned to the topic of children, grandchildren, and Halloween. They showed off pictures of their children's Halloween costumes, then the Shot Lady suggested their husbands dress up as Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street. That made the more shaken Gum Lady laugh through her tears.
If this drama sounds familiar to you, you might be a fan of the Netflix Original comedy Grace and Frankie. Almost the exact same thing happens to those ladies, played by Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. That's exactly what BJ thought of when she first heard what the ladies were talking about their plan. So you can imagine her excitement when one of the ladies mentioned the similarities.
Shot Lady was clearly trying to keep Gum Lady's spirits up by telling jokes. She apparently didn't like what was playing on the TV at the bar, and she wasn't afraid to let her opinion be known. "Why are they playing soccer on TV?" she asked Gum Lady. "Did they forget we only care about racist baseball and bad football?" Despite her emotional state, Gum Lady was very appreciative of Shot Lady's efforts as well as her excellent advice.
Finally, it was time for them to head to their terminal and get underway. Even though what they were about to do would undoubtedly be tough, they both had a shoulder to lean on and a sense of humor that would get them through it all. BJ, on the other hand, was inconsolable after their departure.
BJ ended the thread with a warning for the two women's husbands. They better hope their bond is as strong as their wives', otherwise they're going to be in a world of trouble. In a way, we can almost feel sorry for those guys...then we think about how hard Gum Lady is taking all of this and our mind changes pretty quick.
