The Los Angeles County Public Works department has free tire recylcing events throughout the year where used tires may be dropped off for recycling and repurposing. The next even is on September 18, 2010 in El Segundo. More information, restrictions, and other upcoming event locations can be found by visiting http://dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/tirerecycling/collection.cfm. If you cannot make it to one of these featured tire recycling events, the LA County Public Works department also provides a listing of sites across LA County that accept tires. Be advised that at these locations fees and restrictions apply. The list can be found here: http://dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/tirerecycling/ListOfFacilities.cfm. Last but not least the LA Department of Public Works recommends checking your local phone book for tire and automotive repair shops which may accept used tires. However, the Los Angeles Department of Public Works does warn that these businesses typically charge $3.00 or more per tire to take and dispose of them.
